What is Pilates?

Pilates is a complete body conditioning method used to increase strength and improve tone, flexibility and fitness in a safe and controlled manner.

Utilising specialised apparatus including the reformer, cadillac/trapeze table, spine corrector and stability chair, each piece of equipment can be used to target specific areas to challenge and evolve the body and mind. The sessions will also focus on the core fundamentals of Pilates to allow growth and a better understanding of your own body.

As a non-impact form of exercise, the Pilates Method allows us to pay proper attention to improving core strength, spinal stability/mobility, flexibility, pelvic stability, alleviate pain and tension, relieve stress and promote proper posture and body awareness.

Who is Pilates suitable for?

Pilates is a safe and highly effective work-out for people of all ages, both men and women, including children, pre and post natal women, athletes and the elderly.

No experience or flexibility is necessary and if you haven’t exercised for a long time it is an efficient and non-invasive way to start. The exercises can be progressed through stages of increasing difficulty to provide a challenging routine for all levels, including athletes, dancers and gymnasts. Many sporting teams now incorporate Pilates into their training programs in order to improve performance and reduce injuries.

Studio- Clinical Pilates
(Individual)

Studio - Duet
(Two Individuals)

Private (Individual) or Duet (Two Individuals) Lessons

Once you undertake your initial consultation, we offer 1:1 private session or 2:1 private duet session (if you can organise and provide your Pilates buddy). All sessions will be tailored to the individual’s needs and goals.

Under the direct guidance of your instructor, you will gain a deeper understanding of what exercises are more suited to and how to execute them properly. Therefore, no previous Pilates experience is necessary and if there are any concerns, our highly trained instructors will be working closely together with the physios at ISO, to provide you with the most optimal care and support.

Clinical Pilates (Individual)

The clinical Pilates Method incorporates a thorough individual screening and assessment which is then used to tailor the sessions to treat that injury and the compensating weaknesses associated with it. Like the studio sessions, we include mat work and all studio apparatus, including the reformer, cadillac/trapeze table, spine corrector and stability chair. The equipment is used in a way to help safely mobilise joints to reduce muscle guarding (spasm) and to correct imbalances and weakness due to the injury. We also work on accessing deeper muscle groups to provide greater support to the body’s skeleton. It is also an effective way to correct the body’s asymmetric and chronic weaknesses to prevent injury in the future. We work closely with the ISO Physios to provide the best all round care for you.

Why we have Initial Consultations?

New client’s are required to start with an initial consultation. During your initial consultation your instructor will assess your posture, movement patterns and connection capabilities in order to tailor your sessions to your individual needs and goals. This is especially important if you have any injuries, weaknesses or concerns.

All classes and sessions are for 55 mins unless otherwise arranged.
